North Dallas, Texas

The phrase "North Dallas" is used for the part of Dallas located “in the loop,” between the Dallas North Tollway and Central Expressway, north of Park Cities, and south of Interstate 635.

Home to many of Dallas’ wealthiest people, this area features both sprawling estates and row after row of ranch-style homes. When you look for property in North Dallas, realize that the designation means different things to different people. You will want to rely on a knowledgeable real estate professional to guide you through the maze.

North Dallas is a mixed bag of housing styles, prices and amenities. Some North Dallas neighborhoods are characterized by older, well-defined communities with ordinary tract-style homes. Others feature a wide spectrum of housing types with modest 40 to 50-year-old homes. There are pockets of desirable, mid-century modern architecture. Golf course communities with custom homes and large floor plans and luxury custom homes with all the bells and whistles are still being built.

There are neighborhood pools and parks, recreation centers and libraries, shopping areas, restaurants, and small businesses. It is not exactly suburbia, but it is most certainly closer to the definition of bedroom communities than to urban excitement. North Dallas also boasts long-established and beloved neighborhood shopping centers along Preston Road, and the crown jewel of Dallas retail.
